- Map of Kenya -
| is the country many people think of when they imagine Africa's vast sweeping plains covered with wildlife. It is a country of great wildlife diversity with a large variety of habitats from high snow capped mountains, to vast deserts, lush forests and spectacular beaches. |

| It is this diversity of habitats and the geographical location of Kenya between several different evolutionary centers that makes Kenya such a wildlife gem. |

| In addition, there are numerous opportunities for cultural experiences with some of the indigenous people. Many of these tribes such as the Maasai, Samburu, Boran, Rendille, Turkana, Gabbra and Swahili still retain much of their traditional customs. |

A
VARIETY OF WAYS TO SEE KENYA
|
| There are numerous ways to travel and see the different regions in Kenya. Perhaps one of the finest ways to see Kenya is traveling with a classic mobile-tented camp to a variety of parks and private ranches. |

| There is also a selection of private homes (which we call bush homes), which offer a limited number of accommodations on private game ranches that are often adjacent to parks and reserves. The standards of accommodations and service in these homes are among the finest to be found in Africa. They are all creatively built with local materials and fit in wonderfully with the surrounding environment. Many of these places are owner run and managed and are situated on or near tribal lands allowing one to experience the local African people in their everyday lives. |

The
"Bush Homes" often have horses, camels and guided walks, which allow one
to get some exercise and gain a different perspective for viewing wildlife
and exploring the countryside. We can also arrange horseback trips for
experienced riders, camel treks in the north for those seeking solace
in the desert, special destinations and guides for bird watchers, diving,
fishing and relaxation on the coast or Lake Victoria, or a combination
of all of the above.

POSSIBLE
SAFARI COMBINATIONS AND EXTENSIONS
|
| Within Kenya, we can arrange special additions during one's safari, such as hot air balloon rides over the Masai Mara, fishing and relaxation at Lake Victoria, or a day trip up to the northern Chalbi Desert to visit an oasis where the Gabbra people come for water each evening with their camels and other livestock. We can also create special visits and even participation in our conservation and community projects, as well as other research and community projects run by other organizations. Kenya is also home to some of Africa's finest artisans and we often set up private shows in their homes during teatime. |

| Kenya's location makes it an ideal country for extensions or combination trips to the Seychelles (for pristine beaches and excellent bone fishing), Uganda, Tanzania, Ethiopia or Egypt. While not a separate country, the Kenya coast is so different from the interior of Kenya that this should also be considered an extension. The Arab traders have historically influenced the dress, language, religion and architecture all along the East African coast. Relaxing on a completely private beach and spending a day exploring the old Arab streets on Lamu Island is a perfect way to end a safari. |
