Morocco
Intricate blue wall
is one of the most exotic countries in the world with a richly diverse history and culture. Lying just across the Straits of Gibraltar from Spain, Morocco shows the influence of different ruling kingdoms such as the Romans, Portuguese, British and Berbers. While many people just explore some of the romantic sounding cities like Marrakesh and Casablanca that conjure up images of bustling bazaars, spices, orange groves and fantastic architecture, it is well worth the time to penetrate deeper into the country visiting small oases and towns in the Atlas Mountains, which stretch off into the Sahara Desert.

EXPLORE EVEN FURTHER INTO THE MOUNTAINS
The Atlas Mountains are a fascinating place to explore with the Todra Gorges providing hiking opportunities for those with a sense of adventure. In the spring the mountains are awash with pink Persian roses and there is even a famous factory that makes rose water. Here life has remained relatively unchanged for hundreds of years. Visit the city of Ait Benhaddou, a recognized UNESCO world heritage site and one of the most beautiful villages in Morocco.

POSSIBLE COMBINATION TRIPS OR EXTENSIONS FROM MOROCCO
Since Morocco is very close to Spain, a combined trip to the two countries would be very interesting and feasible. In addition, it is also possible to combine a trip to Tunisia, which is only a hundred miles south of Sicily. While Tunisia is on the African continent it has a very relaxed and Mediterranean charm mixed with the influence of many different cultures. Tunisia is also the location for the filming of The "English Patient" and "Star Wars" and is known for spectacular sunsets over the desert.
