South Africa
has become well-known as a diverse and well developed country. With direct flights from the U.S., trips to South Africa are an easy way to catch a glimpse of Africa for those with only a short amount of time to spare. This is a prime destination if one desires to practically be guaranteed sightings of Africa's main large game species in just a few days. While South Africa is often used as a gateway to many of the Southern African countries; the diversity and beauty of this country deserve more time and exploration. Giraffe at sunset

The numerous choices of game lodges and camps make it confusing for most people to choose the best places. We pride ourselves in knowing all the top camps and will match you to the one that most suits your interest and budget. Many of the best camps are on private ranches that were previously fenced in as hunting reserves. Recently, there has been an exciting change with many of these fences being removed or in the process of being taken down to allow the animals to once again roam freely among neighboring reserves and National Parks. These reserves are now important buffer zones to some parks and breeding areas for rare and endangered species.

Rhino, elephant, leopard, buffalo and lion can all be seen in South Africa during a short stay.

CONSERVATION INTITIATIVES AND ACTIVITIES
South Africa is a forerunner in conservation initiatives in Africa and is currently involved in one of the largest conservation challenges any country has ever undertaken, the removal of the massive fence that historically protected Kruger National Park from poachers in Mozambique. This will allow elephants and other species to have more room to roam naturally in the bordering park in Mozambique, while still providing them protection, and at the same time, creating employment opportunities and tourist facilities in todays more stable Mozambique. If one is interested in actively taking part in animal conservation work or visiting a breeding facility, we can arrange something to fit your time frame.

POSSIBLE SAFARI COMBINATIONS AND EXTENSIONS
The close proximity of South Africa to Botswana, Namibia, Zambia, Malawi and Zimbabwe, makes it easy to extend a trip for just a few days or more to see sites in other countries that will allow one to get a taste of all that Africa offers.
While in South Africa, one might wish to spend at least one night or several days traveling across the country in the famous and now completely restored Blue Train or the Rovos Rail.

The Blue Train or the Rovos Rail provide a magical way to travel from Pretoria to Cape Town or Victoria Falls with a personal butler.
